Yankee in Oz

Ruth Plumy Thompson's return to Oz!  Courtesy of the International Wizard of Oz Club, Thompson's 20th volume of Oz historyillustrated by Dick Martinsaw publication in 1972.  Internal evidence indicates this story to take place in September of 1959.  Year is fixed (based on the real-life date of Hurricane Hannah).

An Ozzy Adventure

The Woozy’s Tricky Beginning

Merry Go Round in Oz

40th and final book in the original Oz series termed the Famous Forty!  Penned by the wonderful Eloise Jarvis McGraw and her daughter Lauren McGraw.  Prior to her death, Eloise gave Oz fans two other magnificent volumes in Forbidden Fountain of Oz and the recently published, Rundelstone of Oz!   Internal evidence indicates this story takes place in April.

Ozma Fights the Sniffles

Chapter Three

Wonderful short story from the author of Merry Go Round in Oz

Toto of Oz

Wickwar's first Oz story was originally sent to Ruth Plumly Thompson in the mid sixties.  Completed in the late eighties, it was circulated privately for a time by Fred Meyers of the International Wizard of Oz Club.  It finally saw publication in late 2006 by the International Wizard of Oz Club.

The Raggedys in Oz

Second edition of this rare, privately printed manuscript by Ray Powell proves more effective than the first.  Contradictory elements featuring the death of Percy and restoration of the Nome King have been removed in order to better bring this story of Raggedy Ann and Andy's adventures in Oz in harmony with established Oz continuity.

The Cowardly Lion of Oz

Despite its assertions to the contrary, this record album is NOT based on Ruth Plumy Thompson’s story of the same name, nor any story she ever wrote.  The actual author (as well as the artist) is un-credited and may either have been an employee of Walt Disney Studios or a hired freelance writer.

The Gardener’s Boy of Oz

Long out of print, Palo Verde Emeralds recently reprinted this excellently written volume, a sequel of sorts to Baum's The Scarecrow in Oz, in hardcover.

The Patchwork Girl and the Giant

The Braided Man of Oz

Not to be confused with the Oziana 1997 story of the same name.

Historian made a minor mistake in transposing the silver shoes for MGM’s ruby slippers.  As regards the issue of their adventures on the Deadly Desert, Royal Historian Elois Jarvis McGraw in her book, Forbidden Fountain of Oz establishes the existence of an oasis on the Desert called the “Fountains of Romany” that is habitable to flesh and blood creatures.

An Ozian Odyssey

Manuscript that details the further adventures of Captain Salt who's sea-journey with Dorothy, Toto, Jellia Jamb, Trot and Cap'n Bill end up in near-disaster when they become stranded in a completely alternate universe and all the magic-workers in Oz can't bring them back.  This well-written story accomplishes a similar endeavor as Edward Einhorn's Paradox in Oz, but as that book showed the existence of various alternate Oz-universes, this tale demonstrates the connection Oz has to all other fantasy universes in history, including Alexander Volkov's Magic Land, J.M. Barrie's Neverland, Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and even George Lucas' Star Wars!  Note: The exact date of this adventure is unclear, but the Wizard seems to indicate a possible time-frame when mentioning the events of Peter and Wendy (commonly known as Peter Pan) taking place sixty-years prior to the current date.  Update: An expanded version of this story is coming soon to this site!

Scraps and the Cruel Kalidah

To Oz through the Mists

Internal evidence indicates this story takes place in the summer.

The Change Made by the Magic Turnstyle

Umbrella Island in Oz

Ruth Waara's excellent follow-up to Thompson's Speedy in Oz.  A lengthier, unpublished manuscript of this story exists which, along with the published version, proves some difficulty in dating as the author includes anachronisms to Watergate and Skylab (which would place it at the earliest in the summer of ‘73).  Nevertheless, all indications point to a much earlier placement and Speedy himself states that 8 years have passed since he was last in Umbrella Island (likewise it is very unlikely that he is 50 something year old man at this point).  Ignore the anachronisms and enjoy this well-written adventure.

The Enchanted Island of Oz

Ruth Plumy Thompson's final return to Oz occurred in 1976 with the International Wizard of Oz Club's publication of Enchanted Island of Oz!  Internal evidence indicates this story takes place in the summer.

The Forbidden Fountain of Oz

The McGraw's return to Oz!  Eloise would return one further time with her excellent Rundelstone of Oz.  As per the author’s introduction that she received a letter from an Oz personage “a couple of years ago” and in accordance with the fact that the Hoppers and Horners are at war again, an event dealt with in detail in 1974’s The Magic Cryptogram of Oz, it is reasonable to place this story here in 1974 prior to the resolution of those events in Magic Cryptogram later in the year.  Also, Ozma is said to have received her new curtains a fortnight ago.  The plan to change the curtains began in Thompson’s Enchanted Island of Oz.

The Magic Cryptogram of Oz

Despite the Doubtful Dromedary’s doubtful remembrance of dates, this story definitively takes place a year after the events of Umbrella Island in Oz.

The Flying Bus in Oz

The cover title is in error.  The actual title of this book is The Flying Bus in Oz.  In actuality, it is longer, namely, The Flying Bus in Oz: Joy Marie and the Noyzy Boyz.  It's original title in 1974 was, Morrises in Oz.  Internal evidence indicates this story takes place in the fall.

The Threat of Civil-oz-ation

The Adventure of the Cat That Did Not Meow in the Night

Eric Shanower's first written foray into Oz.

The Lost Sawhorse

The Magic Dishpan of Oz

Year uncertain.  It is unknown how long the Frogman lived at the Emerald City and Prof. Wogglebug’s college before returning to the country of the Yips.  Based on the information provided in “The Final Fate of the Frogman” the Frogman has been guarding the Truth Pond for an unspecified amount of time, and has received three visitors in that period.  The timeframe may occur any time after 1969 (‘Gardener’s Boy of Oz’ - no Frogman is present at the Pond) and before 1989, where he relates his tale to Woot the Wanderer.

Beany in Oz

This privately printed book appeared in 2006 after the discovery of two novellas 'Beany in Oz' and 'Mrs. Pickering Goes to Oz' written by Vincent Ward in 1976 and 1975 respectively.  Accompanying them was a letter to then president of the International Wizard of Oz Club, Fred Meyer.  No further information is known about the author.  Interestingly, Beany is one of the few black children to find his way into Oz.

Two Friendships

The Adventure of the Missing Belt

Zimbo and the Magic Amulet

Beyond the Rainbow

Abby

Eric Shanower shows us whatever happened to twins from Shaggy Man in Oz.  Internal evidence indicates this story takes place in the summer.
